It is my first week of using the Proto-col Collagen shots, handy small 50ml bottles full of beauty inducing potions! I feel like I am in ‘Death Becomes Her’.
Years ago I tried collagen pills but did not get on to well. I hate taking tablet and the pills I got where chalky and HUGE! So I was not too keen on taking them daily. I had to cut them up just to swallow them. So when I was introduced to the liquid Proto-col shots I was very excited.
Firstly, I am used to things that are good for you not tasting too great, but I was pleasantly surprised. The drink comes in a berry flavour and it’s easy to drink. Not just that but it’s in a handy bottle that is sealed so I can slip it into my bag and head out the door. One thing I noticed when taking the supplement is that about an hour after I needed a glass of water. This may not be a side effect but just a result of me drinking a lot of water.
If you read my blog you probably know that as we age we lose collagen in our skin. Signs of ageing become more visible and as a result our skin is dryer, wrinkled and tired. The shot supplements contain VERISOL® type I and III bovine collagen hydrolysate, a bioactive collagen peptide, vitamins B6, C & E, Zinc, Biotin and Copper. This form of collagen is closest to human DNA and is the only source of collagen scientifically proven to repair and restore levels of collagen within the body.
The idea behind the pills and shots is to target ageing form the inside. I am a firm believer it is what you put in your body that forms what you see and this is true with your skin. The collagen increases skin moisture which makes it look fuller.
Week one on the shots has gone well. I usually suffer from dry skin on my nose, chin and forehead and although this has not entirely gone it is getting better. I feel my skin is slowly getting more hydrated and the redness I get from dry skin is reducing.
I will be logging my progress week on week along with a rundown of any food or drink that may affect my diet and therefore my skin. I have decided not to touch a drop of alcohol for the 8 week process to allow the shots to work their magic!
Please check back when I upload images and reports on how I am getting on.
After 5 Weeks
Ta Dah!!
These photos show the five week progress of my skin. I am delighted.
Firstly, I think it is pretty obvious that the redness has decreased and with that my skin is smoother and less dry. I have noticed some fine lines have smoothed out and of course my skin feels and looks more hyrdrated. I think the shots have certainly worked their magic.
I had planned on drinking 2.5 litres of water a day to help but failed and have only managed 1.5 litres so I think the results from the shots alone is just fabulous.
I am attempting to maintain this with drinking plenty of water for the next few months but if I need a skin refresh I will be using these again for sure!
