Clarol Anti- Acne Range

Since stopping the combined pill my skin has played havoc with my social life. Every month I am plagued by hormonal fare ups that seem to make my skin range from oily to extremely dry and sore.

I can tell the fare ups are hormone based as they mainly concentrate around my chin and jaw. With some in my hair line and on my back. I desperately did not want to return to the combined pill so I looked for more natural means to fixing this mild adult acne.

By no means is it severe. To me it might feel like acne but to others it won’t appear as bad. One of the main issues was that I got some horrible and very painful lumps which evolved into nothing and then disappear. This cyst like pattern is typical of hormonal mild adult acne. Coupled with the stress of my everyday I really have found it hard to beat.

As well as drinking plenty of water, exercising and ensuring I keep my face clean and moisturised I embarked on a new cleansing system using Clarol products.

A lot of traditional acne products work to ‘nuke’ the skin. They can make it dry and damaged, Where Clarol is different is that it is not harmful and actually aids the skins development no matter how long you use it for. The products contain Biolin ® which is a patented skin prebiotic that feeds good skin flora. This skin flora is damaged with severe and strong acne solutions, making skin dry and weak. By boosting levels of good skin flora, the skin becomes stronger, smoother and much more resilient to the acne bacteria.

As well as Biolin the products contain Teflose® which is like a coating to the skin and seals blemishes from further infection. Along with the MicroSilver ™, a naturally derived anti-bacterial agent, the skin works to clean and heal.

MicroSilver ™ stays active on the skin for up to eight hours meaning that if applied regularly skin is continuously protected from the build-up of acne bacteria, while good skin flora is allowed to grow and multiply.

I have to admit I was concerned at first that with so many ingredients that I had not heard of would the products suit my skin? Would my skin be too sensitive? Would it make it worse?

I didn’t need to worry. The products, which can be bought as a kit or separately, arrived in beautiful and simple packaging. It is also very mature and elegant. One thing I hate about off the shelf treatments is that they tend to be marketed to teenagers and the packaging is for a teen market. I don’t want a shelf of ‘acne, spot, blemish’ labelled products in my bathroom for all to see.

The first item I tried is the Clarol Silver and Birch Exfoliating Face Wash. At just £11.95 it is totally affordable and a little goes a long way.

It contains Birch Bark is an ancient treatment used in Russia for acne because it contains several natural acne-fighting properties. Birch bark detoxifies the skin without damaging. The wash also contains natural salicylic acid and methyl salicylate. I had read a lot about these synthetic chemicals and their treatment of acne. Combined they help with the healing process. As the name suggests it also contains MicroSilver ™ an ingredient that kills off bad acne bacteria without damaging good skin bacteria, leaving skin clearer and healthier. It also exfoliates and removes the dead skin cells.

The wash is delicate, scent free and it does not affect my eyes or dry my skin. I have done the clean test with a cotton pad and not a speck of make up or dirt can be found on my face after I have used the wash so it passes with flying colours.

I followed the wash with the Clarol Skin Flora Re-Balancing Serum. It makes a really easy two process skin cleansing system that anyone can follow and takes no time at all.

The serum works to increase good skin bacteria and balance your skin to healthy levels. It can then repair itself and become stronger. The cream is odourless and easily sinks in. I allow a pea shaped amount to sink into my skin before applying any moisturiser or make up. At £12.95 it’s a steal.

There are other products in the range including a Sebopure for more oily skin. This is a direct treatment that decreases the amount of serum produced by the skin. It is a great go to for breakouts or particularly bad blemishes.

I love the gentleness of the products and I am amazed at how something so gentle to my skin can work so well on my adult acne. It has done wonders for my hormonal fare ups and I am a total convert.
