Made of More Salvation Rescue Balm

In this stage of pregnancy, I’ve noticed my skin feels more unpredictable than ever: dry patches, irritation, a weaker barrier, sensitivity to products, and just generally looking less “plump” and more fatigued. My hormonal fluctuations (and age) mean my skin’s been less resilient. When I saw that this balm is specifically formulated for “hormonally reactive, irritated or dry skin” (the brand describes it as for skin from “mid-life” onwards) and claims to rebuild the skin barrier, calm redness, deepen hydration, I thought: yes, this is something I need right now.
Also: it is vegan, fragrance-free, and free from synthetic colours — helpful when you’re pregnancy-aware of what you’re putting on your skin.

I used the balm mainly in the evenings, after cleansing and any lighter serum/treatment.
I took a pea-to-small-bean sized amount, warmed it between my fingers, and gently pressed it into the driest/most irritated zones (cheeks, under and around the nose, jawline) plus the supporting areas (neck, décolletage) where pregnancy/age has made my skin somewhat thinner and more reactive.
On nights when my skin felt especially “off” (tight, irritated, flaky), I applied a slightly thicker layer as a mask-style finish: apply a generous layer, leave it overnight, then in the morning gently wipe off any excess and pat the rest in. The brand mentions this “intensive rescue mask” approach.
On more “normal” nights I used it as the final step to lock in moisture and support my skin barrier.
After a few nights of using it, I truly felt the sensation of my skin being more “settled” the tight, irritated feeling (which had become quite frequent) lessened. The ceramide and hemp-seed oil + CBG complex seem to deliver a real soothing effect.
My skin felt softer to the touch, less dry and “patchy”. Especially around the jawline/neck area where hormonal skin often shows first.
Because the product is fragrance-free and designed for sensitive, over-reactive skin, I felt comfortable using it in pregnancy when skin can be more reactive. It didn’t provoke any noticeable irritation for me.
I liked that I could use it as a normal night balm or as a “rescue mask” for worse nights. Having that flexibility was helpful when my skin’s unpredictability ramped up.
At the premium end (circa £45 for 30 g) it’s a significant investment. For a balm that is “rescue” rather than everyday basic, that’s something to consider. I know other creams that are cheaper but don’t deliver the consistent results so on reflection its worth spending a little more.
While the product is gentle and free from many usual irritants, I always recommend checking with your dermatologist or obstetric care provider when using “active” or rich skincare during pregnancy. It contains CBG and other potent botanicals, so safe use-confidence is individual.
If I were to summarise: if you’re going through a phase where your skin feels fragile, reactive, dehydrated, and “ways off” (as mine did), especially in the context of hormonal change (pregnancy, perimenopause, etc.), this balm is a really good rescue-tool.
