During my youth I used a range of foundations from full coverage liquid to light weight mousse. I have to say that most of the range I used in my 20’s was oil free or matt defying but as I have aged my skin is drier and needs more nourishment. Matt foundations amplify the fine lines and the dry areas of skin. Therefore, I need to choose my foundations based on the skin type and benefits choosing a buildable coverage and more natural look that feeds the skin not covers it.
Over the last two months I have been post partum and my skin has changed and adapted. Lack of sleep, stress and age all playing a part. Not to mention the central heating, cold weather and hormones. I needed a foundation that is easy to use, light coverage and acts as a skin nourishment as well as improving my complexion. One that seems to tick the boxes is the Odylique Cream Foundation.

Right from the first application, the Odylique cream feels like a skin treat rather than traditional makeup. It’s formulated especially for dry, mature, sensitive skin and has a lovely creamy, ultra-hydrating texture that glides on without pulling or emphasizing lines. The texture is rich and nourishing, exactly what mature skin often craves and it melts beautifully into the skin while still evening out tone and subtle imperfections.
It blends easily and doesn’t settle into tiny lines, something I’m always wary of with foundations. It genuinely feels like a hydrating skincare product with colour, thanks to natural oils and botanical extracts.
If you like your foundation to feel like a comforting, everyday skin treat rather than heavy makeup, this one will be a joy. It’s especially nice on cooler days or when your skin needs a little moisture boost.

I have also been using H Beauty Tinted Moisturiser. Rather than a foundation this is like a BB cream, and I love a BB Cream. This one from H Beauty has quickly become one of my favourite “easy makeup” staples, especially for those days when I want just a bit of coverage without anything heavy or cakey.

This isn’t a full-coverage foundation, it’s a lightweight tinted moisturiser that feels incredibly breathable and natural on the skin. That instantly appealed to me because my skin can get a bit dry and sensitive, and I didn’t want anything that felt masking or heavy.
Right away, I noticed how moisturising it felt. The formula is enriched with Moringa, which helps to hydrate and even calm redness, so even before I blended it in, it felt like skincare and makeup in one.
Once applied, my skin looked fresh and radiant — like I’d just had a bit of sleep or a light skin-prep routine rather than makeup. It doesn’t mask your complexion but enhances it, making imperfections look softer and more diffused.
I just used two pumps on my fingers and blended from the centre of my face outward. It melts into the skin beautifully and doesn’t cling to dry spots or fine lines something I really appreciate on mature skin.
There’s a nice selection of shades, from Desert Rose (soft fair) to Sunbaked (rich medium) so you can find a match that feels natural and flattering.
