Japanese face massage by Skin Aspirations

Simona Mazenyte, founder and skin therapist at Skin Aspirations welcomed me into her beautiful therapy room in the heart of South Kensington for the anti-ageing and relaxing Japanese Face Massage.

Located amongst the boutique shops within easy reach of the tube station is lies the modern and relaxing Skin Aspirations therapy room. The surprisingly peaceful room is where Simona, a master in skin care, practices. Simona is no mainstream therapist, she specialises in skin conditions. Qualified with the CIDESCO International Beauty Diploma and advanced Skin Analysis Program at Pastiche Institute, which is run by Florence Barrett-Hill, there is no doubt that Simona knows her stuff. It really was a breath of fresh air to speak with someone so knowledgeable about the skin and its unique properties.

I had visited Skin Aspirations to try the Japanese Face Massage a treatment that aims to rejuvenate the face, preventing and reducing the impact of the ageing process.

Unlike some of the treatment I undergo this one was designed to reduce stress, clear my mind and relax me. Labelled as the ‘facelift without surgery’ I have to say I was scepticalit would be relaxing. In my experience non-invasive therapies of dramatic results are usually uncomfortable to say the least.

However, Simona was true to her word. After an initial consultation I settle down on the heated massage bed. It began with a cleanse using hot towels which I absolutely love.

The massage then progressed not just to the face but the neck and decollage. The idea being that a set of movements will relax and energise the skin. It works on acupressure points to achieve a balance in the facial skin, the facial muscles and the related body. This technique lies in a mix of fast and slow hand movements to improve the circulation of the face, neck and upper chest area. To massage with different speed levels is essential as it helps to remove dead cells and to encourage elastin and collagen production.

The massage was accompanied by the DMK Skincare (Danné Montague-King) facial cream. Developed over 40 years and available exclusively through therapists the DMK products are designed for specific and complex skin conditions. The cream used on my face smelt divine. After the massage I looked and felt totally nourished and not greasy. I highly recommend a consultation with Simona on the DMK range to follow any treatment with home care.

For best results a course of seven 1-hour massage sessions for the first 4-5 weeks and then one every two weeks is recommended. But even only one facial massage session will provide a good deal of wellness, relaxation and balance.

In fact, half way through my massage I felt myself nodding off. I was totally relaxed. When the treatment was complete I felt wonderful. Sometimes after a massage I can suffer headaches, no matter how much I drink and dizziness. I had neither of their side effects.

The Japanese facial is £120 for a 1 hour treatment and includes a full consultation on your first appointment. Find Skin Aspirations just a hop and skip from South Kensington tube station.
