PMD Personal Microdermabrasion Device

Microdermabrasion treatments are usually salon based. They range in price bit average about £40-60 with a facial routine included. Previously I have had a course of professional treatments over 3 months which was testing on my bank account. It is not always easy to fit hour long facials around work and social time.

This was the appeal of the PMD Personal Microdermabrasion Device. Like it says it is a at home microdermabrasion tool you can use on your own face!

The hand tool is supplied by mains electric so no need to worry about batteries and charging. I tried the classic which comes with some starter discs and two caps. The tool uses suction and exfoliation to remove the outermost layer of dead skin. By removing this top layer, fresh, younger looking skin is produced in its place.

How does it remove the dead skin?

The device, like salon based machines, uses aluminium oxide crystals and suction. The tool has microdermabrasion discs with different levels of grit, for sensitive skin to deeper exfoliation. They even have a model of the machine suited to male skin.

You attached the chosen disc, for me I started at the lightest grit to determine which would suit my skin and work my way to a tougher exfoliation. You then cover with the suction cap and when the machine is powered it produces a suction action. This vacuum action sucks the skin into the rotating disc, bringing blood flow and collagen to the surface. Removes the thin layer of dead skin cells so that rejuvenation creams and serums can sink deeper into the skin and work more effectively.

Immediately at the treatment your skin feels silky smooth but not sore or red. It takes some practice to get used to the action on you face. You need to ensure the suction is there and I advise watching the training video and reading the handbooks that come with the machine. Once you practice on your arm you can start on your face.

Pre-treatment i cleansed and again after then toner and moisturiser. I decided on a plan of two treatments a week with the lightest exfoliation disc moving to once a week with a harder grit discs later on. Over the last 4 weeks my skin has seen some amazing improvements. No more dry skin or reoccurring areas of redness. The skin tone is brighter and more radiant and my make-up applies much nicer. Over time regular use will help to reduce lines, pigmentation, and signs of ageing.

I have since learnt that you can use the machine on scars and stretchmarks to improve the appearance and rejuvenate the skin!

Be warned! This device can become addictive! I couldn’t wait to use it again and enjoy my weekly sessions in the comfort of my own home.

The PMD Personal Microdermabrasion Device is brilliant. It is affordable, great results and so easy to use. PMD also offer a range of demo videos, instructions, and more information about the science behind microdermabrasion on their website here:
