Anusol - A Pregnant Woman’s Honest Review

Let me just say it, pregnancy is beautiful, magical, full of joy... and sometimes downright uncomfortable. My previous pregnancy I didn’t suffer from any problems ‘down there’ until after the birth. However this time, just 18 weeks in and I have been greeted by the not-so-glamorous gift of pregnancy haemorrhoids. Lovely. I tried all the usual advice: more fibre, extra water, sitting on donut rings, but honestly? Nothing really helped. That is, until I discovered the Anusol Natural Cream and the Soothing & Cleansing Wipes.

Let’s start with the cream. I was desperate for anything that could give me relief, and this tube of Anusol Natural Cream quickly became my best friend. The moment I applied it, I felt an immediate cooling sensation that was so soothing. It’s got menthol and witch hazel in it, which honestly feels like a mini ice pack for your bum without the mess or discomfort.

The texture is light and non-greasy, which I really appreciated. It absorbs quickly, so there’s no sticky or clammy feeling afterwards. I also loved that it’s made with natural ingredients like aloe vera and calendula. When you’re pregnant, you become ultra-aware of everything you’re putting on (and in) your body, so using something gentle and alcohol-free gave me peace of mind.

It’s even labelled as safe for use during pregnancy and breastfeeding, which was the final green flag I needed. My skin’s been ridiculously sensitive lately, but this didn’t irritate it at all.

Now onto the wipes. During pregnancy, wiping with toilet paper can feel like sandpaper, especially when things are already sore and inflamed. These Anusol wipes were a dream. They’re super soft, naturally soothing, and feel so refreshing. I could actually feel the witch hazel and aloe doing their thing straight away. They come in a handy size packet that I can carry in my handbag.

They’re also flushable and biodegradable, which makes life so much easier. I used one wipe after every loo visit to freshen up before applying the cream, and the two together worked like magic.

What I really love about both products is how pregnancy-safe they are. Everything has been dermatologically and gynaecologically tested, and you can tell. I never had any reactions or discomfort.

They’re affordable, easy to use, and genuinely effective. I wish I’d found them sooner. If you’re pregnant and dealing with the same “backdoor blues,” don’t suffer in silence. Give these a try. I will definitely stock up before baby arrives as I am sure to need some relief then as well.

Available at all good pharmacies, my stock arrived from Boots:
