It is recommended that adults get between 7-9 hours sleep every 24 hour period. That is not including naps either, that's one long sleep through the night. In caveman times our sleep patterns were different, humans didn't sleep by the sunset or daylight they slept when they were tired. Clocks, schedules and employment changed all of that. I argue that it is not always natural to sleep at set times, maybe forcing our eyes open until the clock strikes 10pm is just counterproductive?
Either way, right now I am struggling to get any naps let alone long uninterrupted sleeps in.
Like many people I am stressed, missing loved ones and worried about things outside my control. That is why I have gathered together some of the top sleep solutions from sprays and lotions to candles and balms.
Sweet dreams everyone.
First up is a totally natural oil based remedy by Puressentials the Rest & Relax Air Spray.
The rest and relax range contains 12 essential oils including lavender and sweet orange. The ingredients smell beautiful and also promote sleep by reducing anxiety and balancing the nervous system.
Simply spray a few puffs over your bedding and on your pillow for a sound night's sleep. This is my top go to for a rapid sleep solution It successfully calmed me instantly and was easy to use. It won’t leave stains, damp patches or marks on your bedding and smells fabulous.
If you need some serious de-stress try the spray coupled with the bath and shower oil that can be used as both an addition to your bath or a wash off body oil.
If you share a bed or are looking for something suitable at bath time then try Better You Magnesium Sleep Lotion.
Magnesium has an important function for the body, it promotes well being and relaxation, both in high demand right now.
The lotion is absorbed into the muscles helping with calcium absorption and a healthy immune system. Magnesium is a great product for after sports to help recover. Couple this with lavender and chamomile and it provides a lightly scented lotion to moisturise the skin and help sore muscles. Better You say the lotion is designed to ‘slow sensory activity and quieten the mind, allowing for a deeper and more sustained sleep cycle’. So switch off your mobiles and apply your eye mask for a sound night's sleep.
Available in boots and other chemists as well as at betteryou.com/magnesium-sleep-lotion

If you like to make your surroundings more comfortable and inviting and looking for a means to relax before you hop into bed then try the Sassy Wax Melts. The extensive range includes a sleep melts with Bedtime Baby, Sandalwood & Patchouli Dreams, Coconut Milk & Lavender, Lavender & Neroli.
I particularly like the starter pack which includes a range of melts to test various smells. Available in full size bars (just like chocolate) you simply break off a square and melt in your wax holder. The scent is long lasting, the wax can be reused and they contain glitter! Making them super pretty.
As you only need a little at a time and it lasts ages, I have been using my packs in my underwear draws to keep my undies smelling nice. Keep the wax melts in their packaging or place in paper tissue and store with your clothes then remove and use as and when.
